"Islands" is a song recorded by English indie-pop band The xx for their self-titled debut studio album. It was written by band-members Jamie Smith, Oliver Sim, Romy Madley Croft and then-member Baria Qureshi. Singer Romy told The Sun newspaper: "I love 'Islands' because I found it quite hard to write something more upbeat and light-hearted. We were into this calypso drumming beat and asked Jamie if he could help with those sort of sounds like bongos. That's what makes that song so special." (Source Islands Songfacts).
