Hailing from Malaysia, Wui-Ming Gan's affinity for music was discovered at an early age, placing him in a program for gifted young musicians at the Yamaha School of Music. He spent much of his youth playing and composing music in a variety of styles, and his penchant for musical diversity continues to this day. In 2001, Wui-Ming won First Prize at the National Piano Festival in Malaysia, as well as a special prize for the best performance of the commissioned piece, earning him a concert tour around his motherland.
