MAMIFFER (US)
Experimental, avant-garde music is a hit or miss affair. Music compromised of building blocks like space, electronic hiss, small percussion, chanting, silence and guitar textures isn’t exactly the easiest road to creating something memorable, but Mamiffer belong to a select group of artists capable of pulling it off. Consisting of husband and wife duo Aaron Turner and Faith Coloccia as its core members it would be easy to put the spotlight on the former Isis front man, but essentially Mamiffer is the brainchild and former solo project of Coloccia. Her sparse, yet melodically rich piano playing takes center stage and is what sets their music apart. It’s as if Tori Amos went mute and post-metal. Though certainly not metal in the usual sense, the heaviness of last year’s album ‘Mare Decendrii’ will certainly come across well on stage. This should come as no surprise considering the list of members other involvements including Pyramids, Everlovely Lightningheart, Thrones, Helms Alee, These Arms Are Snakes and Locrian. Are you ready to bear their gorgeous weight?

MENACE RUINE (CAN)
Industrial blackened neo-folk duo from Montreal, Canada, come over to wrench our stomachs with elegance and apocalyptic beauty. For those who haven’t heard and/or are not familiar with the oeuvre of MENACE RUINE, one can hear that their sound descends from artists like Nico and Merzbow, or the more somber aspects of Burzum.
