Description

We are busily working with the Management Team at the Assembly Rooms to produce the second DERBY TRADITIONAL MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL. This exciting and enjoyable Festival takes place at the Assembly Rooms, and The Guildhall Theatre, Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AH.

Following on the success of the first Festival, 2008 will be a full weekend starting Friday night ‘til Sunday late afternoon. The dates are 24 - 25 - 26 OCTOBER, 2008.

There's lots of accommodation, (see below) including caravan and camping sites, in and around Derby, so all you campers can still do your own thing.

There are many top names from the national folk scene, together with some local heroes appearing this year. Artists booked to date are:

Bellowhead "Best Live Act" 2008 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards - Vin Garbutt - Finest Kind (Canada) - Julie Fowlis "Folk Singer of the Year" 2008 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards with her Band - Bob Fox & Stu Luckley - Kerr-Fagan-Harbron - Elbow Jane - Les Barker - Pete Morton - Keith Kendrick and Sylvia Needham - Cross o'th Hands - Ian Wilson - Dr Sunshine - Graham and Eileen Pratt - Vicky Johnson - Sergeant Musgraves Dance, and new local Band, RAM, in their premier production of “Waltzers and Wonders – The Wakes is in Town”.

There's loads of concerts, a Welcome Ceilidh, workshops, French dance session, childrens' events, Derbyshire Traditions Exhibition, storytelling, craft fair and sessions. You'll want to be there!
