Description

American roots music just doesn’t get any better than Shindell’s stunning new album, South of Delia. This record of covers is a deeply personal choice of songs that offer up new interpretations such as Springsteen’s often misunderstood Born in the USA.]http://www.monmouth.edu/arts_events/images/0809/RichardShindell.jpg
His passionate and profound songwriting is truly eclectic, ranging from lighthearted ballads and adulterous love songs, to dirges and diatribes that skillfully skewer politics, prejudice, war, and religion. His solid following of loyal fans know him as “a master of subtle narrative”— The Wall Street Journal.

Songwriter, lyricist, singer, and guitarist Glen Phillips has a body of work that has been described as having heart, spirit, and delectable hooks. Regarding his latest album, Mr. Lemons, Phillips has reinvented himself in the style of the 70s singer-songwriter with the same pop savvy he brought to Toad the Wet Sprocket, the alternative rock group from the 90s. Mr. Lemons is packed with the emotional thrust, compassion and sincerity that only Phillips could deliver. “My goal is to gain notoriety in smaller venues,” says Phillips. “I love the experience of giving to people. What I am now doing feels very real to me.

”With a whispery sensual voice, Antje Duvekot “creates an entire, detailed world in verse, and takes you there with beautiful and understated melody”— Neil Dorfsman, producer of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Dire Straits.
