In 2005,
Tadd Mullinix aka
James T. Cotton teamed up with then roommate
D’Marc Cantu to create 2 AM/FM, an unflinching take on pure techno and house. Their first releases, EP's
Pt. 1 and
Pt. 2 featured raw drum boxes and cavernous synths in line with the sound of Rephlex and Trax Records. Unapologetically avoiding contemporary, flashy production techniques, these EPs received support from
DJ Koze,
Laurent Garnier, and
The Hacker among others. Their latest release is Electronic Justice EP, and everything is released on Ghostly International and its sublabel Spectral Sound.
