They formed as a 3-piece unit in Sapporo in 1994 with Ritsuko Ôtera (オオテラリツコ), who left in 1997. The 800 Cherries sound has evolved from ethereal, acoustic, and guitar-based into a more electic style that incorporates electronic and glitch influences, but constant are the Japanese indie/electro pop staples of whispery vocals and tinkly keyboards.
