"Iiwake Maybe" (言い訳Maybe?, "An Excuse, Maybe") is the 13th major single by the Japanese idol group AKB48, released on August 26, 2009. It was the first AKB48's single which participating members were chosen by election. The single surprisingly outsold SMAP on its first day, taking the 1st place in the daily chart, but eventually placed 2nd in the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

AKB48 is an all-female Japanese theater/idol group. As of January 31, 2021, the group consists of 98 members, divided among several teams: Team A with 20 members, Team K with 20 members, Team B with 21 members, and Team 4 with 25 members, Team 8 with 42 members, the last of which have 30 members serving concurrently with other AKB48 teams. Unlike other idol groups in Japan, AKB48 are theatre-based and have their own theatre in Akihabara, Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan where they perform once every weekday, and twice on both Saturday and Sunday.
