"Rock the Boat" is the second single from Aaliyah's eponymous third and final studio album (2001). A mid-tempo R&B song, it features a female narrator instructing her lover on how to sexually please her. The accompanying music video for "Rock the Boat" was directed by Hype Williams and was filmed in Miami and the Bahamas. Following its completion, Aaliyah and eight others died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001. Posthumously released, the video received critical acclaim and was nominated for Best R&B Video at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.
