Recorded during 2009/10 at the band's own studio above the Jamm Club in Brixton. Freed of record company restrictions on what they could do with their own music, the band took the unusual step of releasing almost 40 demos as free downloads on their website. Each month fans voted for one track from a choice of three or four. The chosen song was then re-recorded properly for inclusion on the finished album.

Alabama 3 are a band originating from Brixton, England, their music incorporates elements of country, acid house, blues and gospel. Named for the Alabama 2, a legal case in the American deep South during the 1930s, in which two black men were hanged for allegedly raping a white woman.
