“Half Time” reflects on Winehouse’s passion for music and the joys that being an artist brings her. Although appearing on her posthumous 2011 album Lioness: Hidden Treasures, the song was originally written and recorded acoustically in 2002 for her debut album "Frank", but never ended up having the right fit for the album. After Winehouse’s death, producer Salaam Remi revealed to Complex in November 2011 that he joined forces with some other well-known instrumentalists and producers, such as ?uestlove and James Poyser, to deliver a proper studio-produced version of the track.
