Born in 1969 Dakar, Didier Awadi grew up in the district Friendship. A pioneer of the hip-hop movement in Senegal and West Africa, Awadi founded the group Positive Black Soul (PBS) with Doug-E-Tee (Amadou Barry) in 1989. Their first album, Boul Faalé (1994) was a success. Awadi released his first solo album Kaddu Gor (word of honor) in In 2002. The album won the Radio France Internationale World Music award in 2003.
