Azealia Banks officially announced Yung Rapunxel Part II on May 7, 2019, and was planning to have it released 10 days later on May 17th. After being pushed back multiple times, it was finally released on September 12th on Soundcloud for free download. Fans noticed that the mixtape hadn't been mastered, and after an attempt to re-release it, Azealia announced the mixing and mastering she had payed for never got done. The mixtape was expected to have features with artists like Grimes (Lol), Yung Baby Tate, Slayyyter, Poppy, Kim Petras and Abra, all of which were scrapped.
