"It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" is a song that appeared on Bob Dylan's fifth album, which was released by Columbia Records on March 22, 1965. Described by one his biographers as a "grim masterpiece" the song features some of Dylan's most memorable images, although some people feel it has too many words. It was written in the summer of 1964 and was first performed at his October 31, 1964, concert at New York's Philharmonic Hall where Dylan introduced it as "It's Alright, Ma, It's Life, and Life Only".
