"C'est La Vie" (more usually entitled "You Never Can Tell") is a rock and roll song by Chuck Berry. It was composed while Berry was in prison for intent to commit a sex crime. The song was originally released in 1964 on Berry's album "St. Louis to Liverpool". Subsequently the song has been recorded or performed by many artists including Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, New Riders of the Purple Sage, the Jerry Garcia Band, and, of course, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (as included on the "Greatest Hits" album).
