Carved in ashes is a Finnish band that plays alternative progressive metal with influences from old-school- prog and rock, doom, gothic metal and vaguely weird vibes from various ethnic traditions. The band was formed in 2009 after two jamming groups decided that one plus one means one; Lauri Kuussalo and Tomi Issakainen had been playing together for several years before they united tunes with Kimmo Kokki, with whom Lauri had been crafting similar songs after their mutual band had fallen into stasis.
