When David Bowie released the Let’s Dance album in 1983 Stevie Ray Vaughan was on board. Before the tour Stevie Ray Vaughan replaced by Bowie confederate Earl Slick. Dallas Moonlight is a very good recording of one rehearsal session with Bowie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Bowie is in amazing voice and the recording does give you a sense of what things could have sounded like if Vaughan had been allowed to work his magic onstage.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's band performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The concert attracted the attention of David Bowie who asked Stevie Ray to play lead guitar on Bowie's next album, "Let's Dance". Vaughan had been slated to join Bowie on the Serious Moonlight tour in 1983, but removed himself from the project following personal disagreements between the pair. The recordings scrobbled are from the Dallas, Texas soundcheck on April 27th, 1983.
