“Uncle Arthur” is the first track on David Bowie’s first album "David Bowie". It’s also one of the first song recorded for that same album on 14 November 1966 . It’s a character sketch, much like Ray Davies’ (older) work, though it’s a little more surreal. This and the fact that the main character in the song is only referred to as Uncle Arthur, leads many to believe that the story is told from a child’s perspective.
