Def, Dumb & Blonde is Debbie Harry of Blondie's third solo record. It was released in October of 1989 following 1986’s Rockbird. The singles were "I Want That Man", "Kiss It Better", "Brite Side", "Maybe For Sure" and "Sweet and Low".
Debbie worked with a variety of producers on this album, including Mike Chapman, who produced Blondie's Parallel Lines, Eat To The Beat, Autoamerican and The Hunter, on this record in order to find a sound that's reminiscent of the band's last 4 records. She also worked with Toni C. and Blondie's guitarist Chris Stein (both worked on "Rockbird" with Debbie Harry) as well as Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie of the Thompson Twins, who wrote the songs "I Want That Man" and "Kiss It Better" with Debbie. Additional songwriters and producers of this record include Leigh Fox, Walter Ward, Thomas Bush, Arthur Baker, Eric Thompson, Maria Toledo, Ben Grosse and Nanà Vasconcelos.
Def, Dumb & Blonde reached number 10 on Australian charts and number 12 on UK charts. The album was not as successful in the United States, peaking at number 123 on US Billboard Hot 200 chart, due to a lack of promotion by the record company Sire Records.
