"One More Day" was written by drummer Bill Stevenson about his relationship with his father. He had a very strained relationship with his father but attempted to remedy it by caring for him in his last year of life, becoming his caretaker while he was ill. The relationship remained strained, and the sentiment of "one more day" comes from Stevenson wishing he had one more day with his father, as he placed him in a retirement home where he died just a few days later. Descendents is an American punk rock band from Lomita, California formed in 1978 by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson. They are known for being one of the early bands in the hardcore punk scene to sing instead about more personal and comical topics reflective of their own lives. Shortly after forming they enlisted Milo Aukerman and made what started out a surf band into a full fledged punk unit.
