Walking Wounded is the ninth studio album by Everything but the Girl, released on May 6, 1996, via Atlantic and Virgin Records. Drawing from downtempo, drum and bass, and trip hop, the album compressed these genres into a pop format. Ben Watt produced instrumental tracks, incorporating samples from artists like Tim Buckley and Stan Tracey, while Tracey Thorn wrote lyrics after the tracks were completed. This approach reflected a refinement of their earlier sound, combining Thorn's soft vocals with urban beats to create a distinctive contrast.
