Fan-Tan formed in the fall of 2006 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina when Kuki and Sandee Kooks met Ryan Lee Dunlap and began making music that parted stylistically from the 90s alt rock sound so abundant in the area, and drew more from British post-punk to new wave.
