“Writing on The Wall” sees French Montana collaborating with Rvssian, Cardi B, and Post Malone.
The song was released on September 27, 2019, as the fifth single for Montana’s third studio album, MONTANA. Montana had previously announced that the track would appear on the album in an interview with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe.
The official music video for this track was teased on April 24, 2019, while the artists, with the exception of Rvssian, were filming in a green screen. It was eventually released alongside the song.
The song dates as far back as early as 2016, originally belonging to Post. A demo of the track by Post featuring Jamaican rapper and singer Zuse leaked online in June 2019.
In an Instagram Live broadcast on October 3, 2019, Cardi claimed that the song would have been featured on her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy in April 2018, but her team didn’t clear the song on time.
