James Blunt's Father was dying of stage 4 kidney disease and James wrote this song to say goodbye to his father. The music video to this song is incredibly moving as it is just James Blunt's face up close singing as he starts to become teary, towards the end his father appears next to his son. During the recording of the video everyone on the set was crying apart from James' father who said 'why are you crying I'm still here'. Thankfully after the song was released a distant cousin came forward as a suitable donor.
