Most songs fronted one or two of the members with the rest providing background vocals, with the exception of Pokérap GS, which featured all members equally. Auditions for a "Pokémon pop group" took place in June 2000 in New York. The six members were hand-picked by John Loeffler and his team at Rave Music, who produced and composed most of the music for the U.S. localization.
