In 2007, acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson made "There Will Be Blood", an epic character study of Daniel Plainview, a fictional oil baron starting to discover a fortune at the turn of the 20th century. Plainview was played by Daniel Day-Lewis and the role garnered him his second Academy Award for Best Actor. Jonny Greenwood composed the score, albeit using fragments of a piece (Popcorn Superhet Receiver ) he had already created under commission from the BBC. Hence he was disqualified from an Oscar nomination. Still a pretty good score though.
