Plastic House on Base of Sky is the eighth full-length release from genre-morphing Toby Driver vehicle, (now Brooklyn-based) Kayo Dot. The album, like its predecessor Coffins on Io, is a departure from the project's previous, metal-based musical explorations, wielding instead dense synthesizers and a rainy, Blade Runner-esque atmosphere. Frequent Kayo Dot lyricist Jason Byron supplied 80% of the text , with the lyrics to the remaining, final track being contributed by Driver. Kayo Dot is an avant-rock group originally from Boston, Massachusetts, United States (now based in Brooklyn, New York) that was formed in 2003 by Toby Driver after the disband of maudlin of the Well.
