Laura Sippola was born 1974 in Lapua, a small town in the "plains" of Finland. Already as a little girl she was drawn to the piano at home and making her own songs. At the age of 8 she started to study playing piano at the local music institute. She was slow to learn the notes, but she compensated it with an absolute pitch.
Her musical studies continued in the city of Oulu, further north in the Finnish "plains". There she gathered her first band.
After the college she spent one year in Italy and got acquainted with the Italian progressive music band 'D.F.A.'. After coming back to Finland 1994 she started her studies in the Sibelius Academy getting a good education as a pianist, musician and pedagog. Before graduating from the Academy at 2003 she studied piano playing also in Bologna, Italy, in G.B.Martini Conservatory. She developed her songwriting skills in different departments and studied both jazz and classical music. Her compositions were performed at concerts by many of her different ensambles. Currently she is preparing for artistic Ph.D in her studies.
She works as a freelancer musician and composes her many-faceted songs. In 2004 she published her first album 'Sahara'. and on 2008 an EP called 'Mieli'. She hosted the always popular Laulutupa club in Helsinki with her group &Tuki, where are played the top Finnish jazz musicians. She has also composed a cappella music for Rajaton and Club For Five. Her music has been recorded also by Laura Malmivaara and Johanna Kurkela.
