Woman in the Wings is the debut solo studio album by English folk singer Maddy Prior, the lead vocalist of Steeleye Span. Released in May 1978 by Chrysalis Records, and produced by Ian Anderson, Dee Palmer and Robin Black, all the songs on the album were written by Prior. Personnel on the album (in addition to Prior's vocals) include Andy Roberts on guitar (except for tracks 3, 5 and 6), Martin Barre with guitar solo on track 2, and Ian Anderson with flute on track 4.

Maddy Prior (born 14 August 1947, Blackpool, England) is an English folk singer. One of the most accomplished female vocalists in the British folk music scene, Maddy Prior is best known as the lead singer in the electric folk-rock band Steeleye Span. In her teens Prior moved to St Albans, where she befriended the young Donovan Leitch and Mac MacLeod. She later formed a duo with MacLeod called Mac & Maddy.
