"When You Believe" is a 1998 duet between Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey for the DreamWorks Animated film The Prince of Egypt. The song’s message is that when you believe in God and trust in him miracles will happen.

The version of the song featured in the film was written by Stephen Schwartz, while the Houston/Carey version features additional music and lyrics by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. ‘When You Believe’ won the Oscar for Best Film Song in 1998; as it was awarded for the version featured in the film and not Houston and Carey’s, Schwartz was the sole recipient of the award.

This was a chart-topper in several countries, including The Philippines, Israel, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

This version of the song was produced by Hans Zimmer, who composed the score for the film. It also appears on the soundtrack along with the Whitney/Mariah version.
