There are more than one band called NEWS. 1. is an eight-member Japanese boyband, consisting of Yamashita Tomohisa (9th April 1985), Nishikido Ryo (3rd November 1984), Koyama Keiichiro (1st May 1984), Kato Shigeaki (11th July 1987), Kusano Hironori (15th February 1988), Masuda Takahisa (4th July 1986), Tegoshi Yuya (11th November 1987) and Uchi Hiroki (10th September 1986). The group began with nine members, but Moriuchi Takahiro left just before the release of their major debut single Kibou ~Yell~, reportedly because of family issues.

As of May 2006, NEWS is currently on a temporary hiatus, due to Kusano and Uchi getting suspended from Johnny's Entertrainment for underage drinking. The other members of the group, however, are currently persuing solo projects and won't be officially called NEWS again until early 2007.

NEWS' hiatus was ended at the 2006-2007 Johnny's Countdown where the group reappeared with six members. The two members who were suspended for underage drinking are under "trainee" status, which means that they are practicing but not making any public appearances with NEWS or otherwise.

2. was a danish pop band, formed in 1981 by Gitte Naur (vocals), Aske Jacoby (guitars), Jacob Vejslev (guitars), Jette Schandorf (bass), Peter Biker (drums) and Martin Nordborg (keyboards). During the band's history there were some changes in the line-up, Søs Fenger replaced Gitte Naur in 1983 but was herself replaced by Nadia Stein in 1987. The band disbanded in 1995
