Very close to Nick's finest hour, if not his finest hour. This is Nick making his great personal singer/songwriter album like his heroes and knocking it out of the park. So many great songs here and so many fine lyrics and so much feeling. My personal favorite is "Lime Tree Arbour," which is absolutely gorgeous. I never get tired of this one.

This is an odd album (well, every Nick Cave album except arguably Nocturama is ‘odd’) it starts out really strong and then fizzles out over the runtime. I’d say that my favorite Nick Cave has been his most recent work (Push the Sky Away and onwards), his three most recent albums have felt like a summation of his career to me with the emotional death of his sons giving them extra resonance. Also, if you can get the chance to see him live I highly recommend it, he still has a ton of energy and puts on an incredible performance.

I'm really keen to hear this newest one of his, which sounds right up my alley from the descriptions. I also loved his and Warren Ellis' score for Blonde. I need to give Push... and Skeleton Tree both a lot more listens and hear the latest one altogether. I've almost caught him live a couple of times but hasn't worked out... yet. Definitely one that I aim to make happen someday. Good to hear from you, buddy! I hope all is well

I don't get the big fuss about this record, to me it's quite bland and uninspiring compared to his earlier mellow material, for example The Good Son. With the exemption of "Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere?", this album is disappointing.
