Slowly We Rot is the debut album by American death metal band Obituary. It was released on May 16, 1989 and is the only Obituary album to feature bassist Daniel Tucker. Despite being recorded in standard tuning, it is considered to be one of the band's heavier efforts. The remainder of the band's output has been recorded in D tuning.

Obituary is one of the pioneering bands of the death metal genre. The band came from Tampa, Florida, and was founded as Executioner in 1985, and then changed their name to Xecutioner to avoid confusion with the other one.
