The song is a 6 minute 41 second long gothic homage to Stanlow. It's a masterpiece consistening of OMD's trademark synthesizers,drum machines. Lead vocals are by Andy McCluskey. Stanlow was not a single but it is regarded by many fans as a seminal recording. It's the final track on Organisation their second album released in 1980.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (often abbreviated to OMD) is a synthpop group whose founding members are originally from the Wirral, United Kingdom. The group was founded in 1978 by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, after they had been involved in several bands, including The Id. Later drummer Malcolm Holmes and saxophonist Martin Cooper joined.
