Paul McCandless (born Paul Brownlee McCandless Jr in Indiana, Pennsylvania, on 24 March 1947 ) is an American award-winning multi-instrumentalist and founding member of the American jazz group
Oregon. He is one of few expert jazz oboists. He also plays bass clarinet, English horn, and soprano saxophone. As well as recordings under his own name, he has released a series of albums of his own compositions with various musicians. In 1996, McCandless won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental with
