Phantom of the Paradise is the soundtrack for the film of the same name, released on A&M Records in 1974. All songs were composed by Paul Williams, who also stars in the film as the villainous Swan, and performs three songs on the album. The album remains as beloved a cult favorite as the film itself, and is considered to be amongst Williams' finest work, though it is vastly different from his usual fare both lyrically and musically. The album spans a marked diversity of styles, from doo wop to sunshine pop to glam metal.
