The Shape of Punk to Come: A Chimerical Bombination in 12 Bursts is the third and final album released by Swedish hardcore punk band Refused, which was released in October 1998 through Burning Heart Records. The title of the album is a reference to Ornette Coleman’s 1959 album The Shape of Jazz to Come and also a reference to the song by The Nation of Ulysses, “The Sound of Jazz to Come” from their album Plays Pretty for Baby, which itself references the Ornette Coleman song. Refused is a hardcore band from Umeå, Sweden, formed in 1991. Members include vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Kristofer Steen, drummer David Sandström, and bassist Magnus Flagge.
