There appear to be at least two different bands called Society's Children. 1. Society's Children was founded in the Chicago area by the mother / son team of Doreen and Patrick Sassone in the late 60s. Doreen was the lead vocalist, and Patrick was the guitarist and songwriter. Mr. Genie Man was written by Patrick and recorded by the group in 1968, and released on the Cha-Cha record label.
