After a run with three important alt-rock bands (Throwing Muses, the Breeders, and Belly) and a four-album solo career, Tanya Donelly stepped back for most of a decade. Then in 2013, she began a self-released series of EPs featuring collaborations with a wide variety of artistic partners. Now the five of these EPs are being collected along with seven new songs for Swan Song Series. As could only be possible for this sort of venture, the resulting compilation is a bit scattershot, but it does make a sturdy testament to years of talented work.
