Taylor Swift wrote the this ballad after reading a blog of Maya Thompson, the mother of a four year old boy, Ronan Thompson who had died from cancer. The lyrics were taken completely from Maya's blog entries. Swift first performed the song live for Stand Up to Cancer in September 2012, and all proceeds of the single go to help fight cancer. "Ronan" is not included on Swift's fourth album, Red. But a Re-Recorded version is featured on Red (Taylor's Version).
