“You” appears on The 1975’s Sex EP. This song details Matty’s frustration with a lover for whom he’s had for one year. They both go out of their way to annoy the other and there is no enjoyment left in the relationship, but it’s an on going cycle of lust, jealousy and arguments that keep them together. This song seems to take place in present tense, which expresses their growing unhappiness. However, some verses seem to go back and reminisce on the good times they used to have, which are now very distant.
