The Fugs were a band formed in New York City in late1964 by Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg, with Ken Weaver on drums. Later in 1965 they were joined by Peter Stampfel and Steve Weber of the Holy Modal Rounders. Their early sound was seen as very Do-It-Yourself take on Folk/Rock and had been retrospectively compared to punk music by some, subsequently however over the next few years the bands sound would become more refined and psychedelic.
