iTunes review: “Nobody’s going to tell me how to wear my hair,” intones Maine frontman John O’Callaghan on “My Hair,” a big-riffed ’60s throwback. His steely resolve is both cheeky and self-aware because he knows culture is cyclical. “Another Night on Mars” defines American suburban alienation, and “Am I Pretty” puts a pop beat to the idea of crippling vanity, which fascinates because it’s from a male POV. The melancholy pop of “Miles Away” and the anthemic “English Girls” are all about yearning. In all, this fifth full-length from this Arizona pop-punk quintet is littered with should-be-classics.
