On “Garden Shed,” Tyler uses the titular imagery as an extended metaphor for keeping one’s sexual orientation concealed, more commonly referred to as being “in the closet.” Although it’s unclear whether or not he is actually coming out, he does directly address the notion in the second verse. In the past, Tyler has hinted at his sexual orientation with drawings, tweets, and lyrics, but here he takes on a more explicit and serious tone. The song is assisted by British R&B singer Estelle, who has voiced her support of the LGBT+ community.
