W.A.S.P. is an American heavy metal band formed in 1982. They emerged from the same Los Angeles scene that spawned Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Guns N' Roses and others. W.A.S.P. began following the demise of
Circus Circus, a Los Angeles-based band featuring
Blackie Lawless and
Randy Piper. The original lineup of W.A.S.P. was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1982 by Lawless, Piper,
Rik Fox, and
Tony Richards. The first lineup did not last for long, as Rik Fox was let go and went on to join the band
