Biography

Marc Walsh and Ciaran McAuley are a DJ/producer duo from Northern Ireland.

The guys first met in 2006 when up against each other in the KeyMix DJ competition in Belfast. Since this chance meeting the two have paired up to produce and DJ together under the alias 'Walsh & McAuley'.

After many long nights in the studio the first few tracks were completed and tried and tested around the N. Ireland club scene. The tracks were pretty much picked up straight away by 'Bittersweet', an imprint from Armin Van Buuren’s massive 'Armada' label. This gained the duo their first international recognition and really wet their appetite for more.

During summer 2007 Ciaran secured himself two residences in Ibiza, one at Kanya Sunset Bar playing during the sunset for Fergie’s Excentirc Night and the Armada Pre Parties. While the other was Play2, the biggest club on the main strip of the infamous West End. While Ciaran was flying the Walsh & McAuley flag in Ibiza, Marc continually worked on productions for the duo, sending them to the White Isle to be tested out.

For the remainder of 2007 and early 2008 they continued to release on some solid imprints including 'Bittersweet' and Belgium’s giant 'Bonzai Music'. They gathered more momentum through these releases, more international support including Agnelli & Nelson, Airwave, Stoneface & Terminal, Yves Deruyter, Matt Darey, and Re:locate.Continually gigging at nights around the local scene and securing a set at N. Irelands biggest summer festival ‘Planetlove’ helped Walsh & McAuley continue to build a fan base and gather up a lot of live DJ experience which has set both of them up as accomplished club DJs.

As individuals the two draw influence from different DJs and producers which has led to solo production work on labels like 'Black Hole' and 'Armada'. However as a team they have found a sound that works for them, typically a Walsh & McAuley DJ set starts with lighter progressive trance, building to big room melodic and driving trance. The guys stamp this sound on each of their productions which are now recognised as high quality tracks on high quality labels supported by high quality DJs.

Towards the end of 2008 Walsh & McAuley - Coastline was played by Tiesto on his globally renowned Clublife radio show, Tiesto continued to show his support right up until the end of 2008 playing Walsh & McAuley – Lost Feeling even dropping it during his 5 hour NYE set in USA. Soon more support followed when Irish producer Neal Scarborough’s remix of Walsh & McAuley - Global Warning earned big support from the likes of Sean Tyas and Tom Colontonio. The guys have had similar success with solo projects, with Robbie Nelson remixing Ciaran McAuley – Forgotten for Roger Shahs ‘Magic Island’, and DJ Activa remixing Marc Walsh – Never Far Away on Monster Tunes.

2009 saw the duo appear on some hot compilations, remix for Black Hole, continue to gain top releases and support on other up and coming labels and release their most sucsessfull track to date.Walsh & McAuley feat Antonia Lucas – Sea of Light was released on Magic Island and even got a remix by Roger Shah himself!
Next up was another proud moment, the duo were invited for their debut guest mix appearance on Agnelli & Nelson and Solarstones Deep Blue radio show. Adding to this success the duo secured a monthly residency at N. Irelands newest all nighter trance club ‘Lost @ The Warehouse’.

In late 2009 and early 2010 the duo continued to play the NI club scene alongside some top international guests including a memorable 2 hour warm up to a full house at LUSH on their debut for Markus Schulz. Also established artists like Agnelli & Nelson, Roger Shah, Gleave, Super8 & Tabb, Andy Duguid, Kyau & Albert, Adam Sheridan, Ronski Speed, Greg Downey, John Askew, First State, Riley & Durrant, Ashley Wallbridge, Daniel Portman

Now that the duo are hitting the big labels and top support on each and every production 2010 will see them raise the bar in the studio to develop their 'big hit' trance sound.Another bigstep is for this talented duo to launch their international DJ career. With booking requests coming through from USA to Finland, and the continued success of their productions on the world’s biggest trance labels! The guys have got their passports at the ready as they prepare to debut their live sound around the globe.

As Walsh & McAuley continue to grow as professional artists they have been compared their heroes and friends, Agnelli & Nelson. They hail from the same country, they are a DJ/producer duo, they release on huge labels and they produce and play the classier more melodic sides of uplifting trance music!

Set to be the next major Irish export in trance music Walsh & McAuley will be a name youll be seeing and hearing alot more from in 2010 and beyond!
