Way Out West released The Fall in November 2000 though BMG, as their former label Deconstruction Records went defunct a few years earlier. The track relies heavily on a vocal sample lifted from Coldcut's track Autumn Leaves (featuring vocals of Janis Alexander). Other prominent sample in the recording was lifted from CBS' coverage of Apollo 8's mission. The song later appeared on Way Out West's second album Intensify that came out in August 2001 on Distinct'ive Records.
