This is the 2nd of 4 movements comprising Mozart's Symphony No. 41 in C major (K. 551), often referred to as the "Jupiter" symphony. Written in F major, with tempo marked as Andante Cantabile in 4/4 time, this slow movement is considered one of Mozart's most elegant. It begins serenely in the tonic, then transitions into a subdued C minor passage before once again emerging into the light for resolve. Written in 1788, Symphony No. 41 was the final symphony composed by Mozart before his death in 1791.
