Let's just say 'electronic dance music' as that is both descriptive and what 'EDM' stands for. Abbreviations shouldn't be used if it can be helped. I just came here to check what a simple summary of the electro style was and the first thing I read is an abbreviation I didn't understand straight away!

electronic music was around 20+ years before electro, "EDM" is more specific and makes more sense
