Day Wave - Deadbeat Girl (Last.fm Lightship95 Series)

All the way from Oakland, CA, Day Wave brought the sunshine with them to their Last.fm session in London, armed with their glorious lo-fi jams.

Ever since 'Drag' made its way onto the office stereo in 2015, we've been considerably hooked onto the gloriously infectious sounds of Jackson Phillips, also known as Day Wave. Touring all over the place in 2016 having only started releasing music in 2015 - this is a bedroom project that has since left the bedroom remarkably quickly. Jackson has been involved in music for a long time, however, having been an aspiring jazz drummer as a youngster and also having fronted SF electropop duo Carousel.

But this is Day Wave, a project that started in earnest with the self-release of debut EP Headcase. Various singles and the latest EP Hard To Read have since followed, with endorsement by the likes of Zane Lowe and Blink-182's Mark Hoppus ever-so-slightly helping matters. Jackson's warm, lo-fi, refreshingly simple jams are the stuff summers were made for, and we're delighted to present to you 'Hard To Read' and 'Deadbeat Girl'.
